Jakarta — The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government began offering free mudik today, Tuesday (17 March 2026), for 30,774 residents in preparation for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

Governor Pramono Anung stated that the free mudik programme, organised by the Transportation Office (Dishub), departs from the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta.

He noted that the number of participants had exceeded initial projections of 26,000 due to strong public enthusiasm.

“The number of homecomers has increased. We initially estimated only 26,000, but due to strong enthusiasm, the verified number has now reached 30,774,” Pramono said at City Hall on Tuesday (10 March 2026).

The free mudik programme represents one of the DKI Provincial Government’s efforts to ease the financial burden on residents during Eid whilst simultaneously reducing traffic congestion on homecoming routes.
