DKI Provincial Government Investigates Illegal Parking at Blok M Square Generating Rp 100 Million Daily Revenue
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has assured that it will conduct a transparent investigation into the alleged illegal parking at Blok M Square in South Jakarta. The parking fees collected from motorbike riders entering the shopping centre area have been operating without official status. The parking area in Blok M was sealed by the Jakarta DPRD’s Special Committee on Parking Management on Monday (11/5/2026). There are nine entry gates (gates) that have been guarded by parking attendants. “We are currently delving into this to confirm whether there is no permit or if it is in process; that is what we are examining together. We will provide an update later and ensure everything is transparent,” said Deputy Coordinator of the Governor’s Special Staff, Yustinus Prastowo, at the DKI City Hall in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026). Nevertheless, Yustinus could not yet confirm if the parking lacks an official permit and fails to comply with parking tax payments. According to him, the DKI Transportation Department (Dishub) along with the DKI Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) are currently conducting further checks regarding the permits and the mechanism for collecting parking taxes in the area.
