Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is encouraging citizen participation in reporting various problems encountered in the field, drawing from a report on illegal parking on Jalan Kembang Lestari in the Depo MRT Lebak Bulus area, South Jakarta.

“This means that I hope more ‘Ijoel-Ijoel’ will emerge. Jakarta is too vast. If calculated, for PPSU (Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling), for example Bina Marga, we are short by 1,000 people,” said Deputy Governor of DKI Rano Karno, accompanied by volunteer Rafli Zulkarnaen or commonly known as Ijoel, during the crackdown on illegal parking at the Depo MRT Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, on Friday.

Rafli Zulkarnaen or Ijoel is a volunteer who previously reported the presence of illegal parking in the area.

Currently, a new parking area has been provided in response to Ijoel’s complaints regarding the parking conditions in the Depo MRT Lebak Bulus area, which was suspected of encroaching on the roadway and disrupting passing motorists.

Rano also hopes for increasingly active citizen participation in reporting any urban issues found in Jakarta.

“With the information, we know, so we can act quickly, although actually we also know, but because the Jakarta area is vast, which one becomes the priority first,” said Rano.

“The response is very pleasing, yes, because the response is quick, and even the leadership wants to come down to the field directly. It means the Provincial Government’s response, Pak Wagub, and the Governor is very quick,” said Ijoel.

Furthermore, the DKI Provincial Government is urging the public not to return to illegal parking after the provision of a new parking area owned by Sarana Jaya in the Lebak Bulus area, South Jakarta.

The Sarana Jaya-owned land can now be used as a parking area and will be gradually arranged by the government.

In the future, the DKI Provincial Government is also considering appropriate parking solutions for employees working in several malls in the area so that access remains convenient.

Previously, residents complained about parking in the Depo MRT Lebak Bulus area, South Jakarta, which was suspected of encroaching on the roadway and disrupting passing motorists.

Moreover, at the location, a “P” (parking) sign was installed, indicating that the area is permitted for parking.
