DKI Provincial Government Cracks Down on Illegal Parking Near Lebak Bulus MRT Station
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has intervened to crack down on illegal parking on Jalan Kembang Lestari near the Lebak Bulus MRT Station in South Jakarta today. Deputy Governor of Jakarta Rano Karno stated that the official parking area will eventually be relocated to land owned by Sarana Jaya.
“This land has already been cleared, and insyaallah, the plan is to use it for relocating the illegal parking,” said Rano to reporters at the location on Friday (24/4/2026).
Rano directly led the crackdown along with the Transportation Department. A total of 200 personnel were deployed for this operation.
He urged residents not to stubbornly park in the area again after the crackdown. According to him, the road is heavily used by the public.
“I urge residents not to engage in illegal parking anymore, because it violates regulations, causes traffic jams, hinders public access, and is prone to criminal acts. So, we are doing this to provide services to the people of Jakarta,” he explained.
In addition to illegal parking, field officers also cracked down on vendor stalls in the vicinity. Rano mentioned that the vendors will also be relocated to obtain comfortable spaces.
“Likewise with these stalls, I mean, with permission, we will move them. It’s not that they can’t do business; they can, but we’ll prepare a place for them. We know that this MRT access has quite a high frequency,” he stated.
Furthermore, Rano explained that for now, residents can use parking at Poins Square. However, he also admitted to considering how to address the parking at the mall, which is considered expensive.
“Maybe the parking is inside, meaning not that the mall doesn’t have parking. Parking inside the mall might be much more expensive than outside. That’s what we’re looking for a solution for, perhaps like that,” he said.
