Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has established a collaboration with PT Pelindo to prevent severe congestion that occurred at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta in 2025.

“The DKI Jakarta Government is providing Pelindo with approximately five hectares of space at Terminal Tanah Merdeka for parking, so that it does not happen like before,” said Pramono at City Hall, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

He stated that the collaboration was undertaken because last year there was an increase in activity at the port, but there was no parking space available for containers.

Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government, together with Pelindo, is working together to anticipate such incidents so they do not recur, by providing parking space that can accommodate 200 containers.

“For that reason, we are also providing the parking land free of charge to Pelindo, because if there is congestion like last year, the costs are extremely high,” Pramono explained.

Previously, in April 2025, severe congestion occurred at Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta due to Pelindo’s truck loads, which should have been 2,500 trucks per day, being forced to 4,000 trucks per day.

“As a result, there was traffic congestion, and I only found out this morning from the Head of the Transportation Agency. It’s no longer 4,000, but has become 7,000 trucks per day. This shows the unprofessionalism of the management at Tanjung Priok,” Pramono clarified.

In response to the incident, Pramono immediately requested that Pelindo take anticipatory measures to ensure such events do not recur.
