DKI Provincial Government Claims Jakarta's Poverty Rate Drops 0.11%, Unemployment at 6.05%

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government claims that the poverty rate in the capital has declined. This was stated by Deputy Governor Rano Karno during the plenary session for the governor’s speech on the Accountability Statement Report (LKPJ) of the DKI Governor for 2025 at the DKI DPRD Building on Monday (20/4/2026). Rano noted that in September 2025, Jakarta’s poverty rate was recorded at 4.03%. “In September 2025, Jakarta’s poverty rate was recorded at 4.03%. This figure is down 0.11% from September 2024,” Rano said on Monday. According to Rano, the decline in the poverty rate was influenced by several factors, including strong economic growth, maintained price stability, and increased economic activity, particularly in labour-intensive sectors. To reduce the poverty rate, the DKI Provincial Government has prioritised the education sector and social protection programmes. These assistance programmes include the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP), Jakarta Elderly Card (KLJ), Jakarta Disabled Card (KPDJ), Jakarta Children’s Card (KAJ), Jakarta Workers’ Card, subsidised affordable food programme, and Jakarta Health Assurance (Jamkesjak). “The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government consistently continues the distribution of various assistance and subsidy programmes, including through KJP, KLJ, KPDJ, KAJ, Jakarta Workers’ Card, Subsidised Affordable Food, and Jakarta Health Assurance (Jamkesjak), which play a role in maintaining people’s purchasing power and reducing the expenditure burden on vulnerable groups,” he said. In addition to poverty, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also claims a decline in the open unemployment rate. In August 2025, the unemployment rate was recorded at 6.05%, down 0.16% from August 2024. “Increased job placement, where 2,894 participants were absorbed from the implementation of job fairs or employment exchanges held at the provincial level, administrative city/district level, educational units, and special job fairs for people with disabilities,” Rano said.
