Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung has affirmed the readiness of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to follow the central government’s policy on implementing work from home (WFH) for one day per week as a measure to save fuel oil (BBM).

This policy is being prepared amid global geopolitical pressures driving up world oil prices.

“The DKI Jakarta Government will follow whatever the central government decides. Whatever is decided, we will implement it,” said Pramono, quoted on Thursday (26/3).

Nevertheless, Pramono stressed that his side has not yet taken technical steps at the local level because the official decision from the central government has not been issued.

He stated that the Provincial Government chooses to await final directives so that the policy implementation can proceed uniformly and measurably.

“Because it has not been decided, we have not taken a stance on it,” he said.

This WFH policy was previously conveyed by the central government as part of the national energy-saving strategy.

The prepared scheme involves working from home for one day per week, particularly for civil servants (ASN), with exceptions for public service sectors.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the policy will begin to be implemented after the Eid al-Fitr period. The government is also encouraging the private sector to adopt similar measures to reduce energy consumption more broadly.

“WFH will be detailed, but after Eid we will enforce it, for ASN as well as recommendations for the private sector. However, it does not apply to public service sectors,” said Airlangga.

He added that the government is preparing cross-ministry coordination, including with the Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Home Affairs, to ensure the policy runs effectively across all regions.
