DKI Provincial Government Allocates Rp 253 Billion for 103 Free Private Schools
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has allocated a budget of Rp 253.6 billion to support the free private school programme. Head of the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Nahdiana, stated that the funds are intended for 103 private educational units in the capital. “The budget allocated for 103 private schools amounts to Rp 253,625,139,600,” Nahdiana told Kompas.com on Sunday (19/4/2026). Nahdiana explained that in its implementation, selected private schools will be prioritised in sub-districts that do not have educational units owned by the DKI Provincial Government. There are several requirements that private schools must meet to receive this funding. These include having an establishment permit, a National School Identification Number (NPSN), and actively updating data in the national education system. In addition, the schools must be accredited, have received school operational assistance (BOS) from the central government for the past three years without interruption, and not be involved in certain cooperative systems. Schools participating in this programme must also be willing to follow the funding rules from the DKI Provincial Government and have an official bank account in the school’s name. “The schools must be accredited by the National Education Accreditation Agency and have been recipients of school operational assistance from the central government for the past three years without interruption. They must also be willing to follow the funding for their education based on this governor’s regulation,” she said. For primary school level, the schools must have classes 1 through 6. Meanwhile, for junior secondary, classes 7 to 9 must be available, and for senior secondary/vocational, classes 10 to 12. Through this programme, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that no more school-age children will have difficulty accessing education solely due to financial limitations or the scarcity of public school facilities in their area. “The aforementioned private educational units must conduct the teaching and learning process without any interrupted classes,” Nahdiana revealed.
