DKI Population Agency Urges Newcomers to Report to Sub-Districts
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency (Dukcapil) is urging new arrivals to report and bring their Indonesian Citizen Relocation Certificates (SKPWNI) to the sub-district offices.
“We hope the public will be more aware of reporting their presence upon arriving in Jakarta, whether planning to move permanently or non-permanently,” said Shanti, Head of the Population Registration Division at the DKI Dukcapil Agency, when met at the RW 02 Secretariat Office in East Pejaten, South Jakarta, on Monday.
Shanti stated that the data collection process is running smoothly without any technical or network issues. However, the agency continues to urge residents arriving with SKPWNI to report immediately to the sub-district offices.
In addition to that document, newcomers must also include a guarantee letter or a no-objection certificate from the homeowner whose address will be used.
“As often conveyed by the Governor, Jakarta is an open city for everyone. However, newcomers are expected to be prepared, whether in terms of work skills, population documents from their origin area, or certainty of residence in Jakarta,” she said.
Overall, Shanti added, the series of Population Guidance and Newcomer Socialisation activities will run for a full month until 30 April.
In addition to today, the agency has scheduled the next simultaneous activities on 20 April.
“The importance of this reporting has two sides of benefits. For the government, this data is needed for the accuracy of regional development planning to match the real conditions on the ground. For the residents themselves, reporting is crucial in emergency situations, such as disasters or accidents,” she said.
In addition to handling new arrival data, the agency is also providing proactive or door-to-door services for all population administration matters.
These services include recording electronic ID cards for first-timers, replacing damaged or lost electronic ID cards, birth certificate applications, family card (KK) data updates, and various other services.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Population and Civil Registration Agency recorded 1,776 new arrivals entering Jakarta as of 1 April 2026, dominated by men.
The majority of newcomers are in the productive age group of 15-64 years, at 79.34 per cent, indicating the dominance of working-age population in post-Eid 2026 urbanisation flows.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to conduct socialisation and door-to-door services for registering new arrivals after Eid 2026 from 1 April to 30 April 2026 across all Administrative Cities and the Thousand Islands Administrative Regency in DKI Jakarta Province.
