Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chair of the Family Welfare Empowerment Movement Team (PKK) of DKI Jakarta Province, Endang Nugrahani Pramono, emphasised that women’s empowerment must be carried out comprehensively, meaning not only opening access and opportunities but also providing a sense of safety. “Not only opening access and opportunities, but also presenting a sense of safety and building an environment that fully respects the role of women,” said Hani during the provincial-level Kartini Day commemoration at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday. According to her, women today still face various non-trivial challenges, both within the family, in the world of work, and in the midst of society. In fact, she said, women have an important role in Jakarta’s development, from shaping the character of future generations within the family, working in economic and professional fields, to becoming social drivers in the midst of society. Therefore, according to Hani, all parties must ensure that Jakarta becomes a safe and inclusive city for women and children, both in family spaces, public spaces, and digital spaces. “This is a shared responsibility to build an environment that mutually protects and strengthens,” said Hani. On the other hand, she stated that this year’s provincial-level Kartini Day commemoration in DKI Jakarta, which carries the theme “Developing Without Limits, Empowered Without Barriers”, serves as a reminder that Jakarta women have great potential and must continue to be given space to grow, develop, and empower themselves. “Kartini’s spirit teaches us to keep learning, growing, and daring to determine the future. We continue that spirit by ensuring that Jakarta women have equal access to education, health, economy, protection, as well as space to participate and lead,” Hani asserted. She also appreciated the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and all stakeholders for their commitment in promoting women’s empowerment and protection through increasingly inclusive public services and development. “I also extend my appreciation to all Jakarta women, mothers, educators, health workers, business actors, cadres, activists, and all women who continue to give their best contributions to families and society,” Hani revealed.
