DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency to 'Scold' Traffic Violators via Speakers at 6 Junctions
The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has launched a road safety education programme called CCTV Jakarta Takeover. Through this programme, road users will receive direct warnings via loudspeakers installed at several traffic junctions.
Head of Dishub DKI Jakarta, Budi Awaluddin, stated that the programme is an innovation in conveying safety messages to the public. The agency is also collaborating with partners to ensure the messages are more relatable and easily accepted by road users.
“We are utilising speakers at traffic junctions as a medium for safety education by collaborating with partners so that the messages conveyed are closer to the community. We hope this method can increase road users’ awareness to be more disciplined and make road safety a shared habit,” Budi said in a statement on Wednesday (8/7/2026).
Through this programme, the public is reminded to obey traffic lights, stop behind the stop line, wear helmets and seat belts, prioritise pedestrians, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving.
According to Budi, the use of CCTV integrated with loudspeakers is also part of the development of a technology-based surveillance system to improve road safety.
“We hope this programme can increase public awareness to be more disciplined in traffic. Going forward, education through speakers at traffic junctions will be carried out routinely by Transportation Agency officers so that a culture of orderly traffic can continue to grow within the community,” he said.
Currently, speakers have been installed at six traffic junctions: Harmoni, Patung Kuda, Bank Indonesia, Sarinah, Bundaran Senayan, and Simpang Millenium. The initial education sessions have been conducted at the Millenium, Bank Indonesia, and Sarinah traffic light junctions.
Budi said the agency plans to add more speaker installation points after conducting surveys at several other junctions. This step is being taken to broaden the reach of road safety education.
