Semarang (ANTARA) - The province of DKI Jakarta will serve as the host for the 32nd National Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ), which is planned to take place in 2027.

“We express our gratitude for the trust placed in Jakarta by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia as the host of the 32nd National MTQ,” said the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, during the closing ceremony of the 31st National MTQ in Semarang, Central Java, on Saturday (19/9) night.

He noted that the implementation of the 31st National MTQ in Central Java, held from 11 to 20 September 2026, proceeded successfully.

“Following Semarang, the MTQ National relay will continue to Jakarta,” he said.

He added that the hosting of the 32nd National MTQ in Jakarta in 2027 coincides with the 500th anniversary celebrations of Jakarta.

“We look forward to welcoming the gentlemen, ladies, governors, regents, mayors, as well as all delegations and scholars from across the archipelago to attend and enliven the 32nd National MTQ in 2027 in Jakarta,” he stated.

“Congratulations to the Province of DKI on the mandate to host the 32nd National MTQ in 2027,” said Taj Yasin, who also serves as the Deputy Governor of Central Java.

He expressed hope that the organisation of the 32nd National MTQ in DKI Jakarta could surpass the implementation of the National MTQ in Central Java in 2026.

“The LPTQ of Central Java Province is ready to provide support and offer opinions or input for the 32nd MTQ,” he said.

The closing of the 31st National MTQ in Semarang was attended by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, along with several governors and deputy governors.

The closing ceremony of the 31st National MTQ included Quranic recitations by award winners and a colossal dance performance titled ‘Mutiara Tanah Jawa’.
