The Jakarta Provincial Government will soon conduct the groundbreaking ceremony for the redevelopment of the Blok M Hub area in South Jakarta next week.

“For Blok M, an agreement has already been reached between MRT Jakarta and the existing developers. I will be present next week for the launch and the groundbreaking ceremony at the site,” said the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, following a visit to the Public Service Mall on Jalan Epicentrum, South Jakarta, on Friday.

Pramono explained that two new towers will be constructed at the site. However, he noted that the specific heights of these towers will be detailed following the groundbreaking ceremony.

In addition to the towers, the area will also see the construction of apartments, hotels, and shopping malls.

Furthermore, Pram Mramono explained that the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) at the Blok M Hub will be developed alongside selected developers. “What is clear is that the TOD is being developed with professional and credible developers who have long contributed significantly to the development of Jakarta,” Pramono stated.

Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Government, through PT MRT Jakarta, had planned to collaborate with a major developer for the redevelopment of the Blok M Hub area in South Jakarta.

According to Pramono, the design concept for the transition of the Blok M Hub area has been discussed in meetings and has received approval.

Moving forward, Blok M Hub will be redeveloped to be more organised and well-planned. The redevelopment is also expected to boost economic activity in the surrounding Blok M area.

“As a result, Blok M will become a more orderly, structured, and planned area, and hopefully, it will bring economic improvements to the district,” Pramono concluded.
