DKI Jakarta targets overall championship at 2028 Peparnas

The National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPCI) for the DKI Jakarta Province is targeting the overall championship title at the 2028 National Paralympic Games (Peparnas). This target is higher than the achievements recorded during Peparnas 2024.

“Hopefully, we can improve our ranking from the top three in 2024; at the very least, we aim for the top two or the overall championship at Peparnas 2028,” said the Chairman of NPCI DKI Jakarta, Yasin Onasie, during the 2026 NPCI DKI Jakarta Provincial Working Meeting (Rakerprov) in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.

To achieve this target, various preparations are being undertaken, including strengthening the training of all competing athletes and providing them with necessary facilities. Additionally, the NPCI DKI Jakarta Provincial Working Meeting was held as part of the strategic efforts leading towards Peparnas 2028.

Regarding the sporting disciplines that Jakarta’s athletes will participate in, Yasin mentioned that 15 out of the total 19 disciplines contested in Peparnas 2028 are currently targeted. “There are currently 15 sporting disciplines that we will participate in at NPCI DKI. There are 19 in total, but there are four disciplines we have not yet developed due to budget constraints, specifically team-based sports,” Yasin explained.

“We want to establish a roadmap so that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can allocate the budget effectively. The ultimate goal is achievement,” added Zuhud.

Furthermore, he encouraged NPCI DKI to begin engaging with the private sector to secure financial support.
