DKI Jakarta provincial government takes action on suspected child prostitution in Lokasari

The Jakarta provincial government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) has moved to address allegations of child prostitution in the Lokasari area of Tamansari, West Jakarta. The provincial government has stated it will not tolerate any form of sexual exploitation of children. Chico Hakim,Special Adviser to the Governor and Deputy Governor for Public Communication, said Pemprov DKI has requested relevant agencies to intensify surveillance in the area. ‘Zero tolerance towards all forms of sexual exploitation of children,’ Chico said in Jakarta on Tuesday (26 May 2026), as reported by Antara. In addition to on-ground surveillance, Pemprov DKI is also strengthening coordination with police authorities. ‘We are prepared to provide protection, support, and rehabilitation for children if victims are found,’ Chico added. He noted coordination with Metro Jakarta Police and West Jakarta police to investigate the allegations and take action if evidence is found. Previously, the West Jakarta PPAPP Subdepartment and Social Affairs Subdepartment highlighted the suspected child prostitution case in Lokasari, which has been widely discussed on social media. ‘Protection of women and children is a shared responsibility requiring cross-sector collaboration from government, law enforcement, community, family, and digital platforms,’ said Rizky. He added that preventive measures are being taken through education and community-based surveillance. ‘If there are indications of children’s involvement in prostitution or human trafficking, they must be regarded as victims entitled to protection, psychosocial recovery, legal support, and rehabilitation,’ he said.
