DKI Jakarta Provides Free Funeral Services
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) provides free funeral services at 82 Public Cemetery Parks (TPU) to ease the burden on grieving communities while ensuring residents receive decent, transparent funeral services free from extortion.
‘Free funeral services are a form of government presence at the most difficult times for residents,’ said M. Fajar Sauri, head of the Department of Landscaping and City Forests (Distamhut) of DKI Jakarta, in Jakarta on Thursday.
Through this policy, he said, every resident of Jakarta will receive decent, dignified funeral services without financial burden.
The facilities include processing of the Land Use Permit for the Grave (IPTM) for new graves, extensions, or stacked graves. Then funeral transport services to take the body from the funeral home or hospital to the TPU.
The hearse service can be accessed via hotline (021) 5480137, (021) 5484544 or 0816878889.
In the TPU area, the public can use supporting facilities such as a 3x3 metre tent, chairs, and a sound system at no cost.
Gouging, closing graves and maintenance of grave areas are also provided by Other Individual Service Providers (PJLP) so heirs are not charged additional fees.
To use the service, the public must prepare administrative documents, i.e., photocopies of the deceased’s ID Card (KTP) and Family Card (KK), photocopies of the heir’s or the responsible person’s ID and KK.
In addition, medical certificate or death certificate from hospital or community health clinic (Puskesmas) as well as a death certificate from the local sub-district office.
‘As part of comprehensive public service, the Jakarta Provincial Government also provides various free supporting facilities for the community,’ he said.
He urged the public not to give tips, gratuities or any compensation to field staff, including PJLP.
If people encounter extortion or difficulties in service, reports can be submitted via the Funeral Service Hotline at 0858-9000-9132, the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app, or via official social media channels @tamanhutandki and @dkijakarta.
The Jakarta Provincial Government hopes to reduce the financial burden on bereaved families, while ensuring that funeral processes in Jakarta proceed in an orderly, humane and compliant manner.
