DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office Names Former Director-General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works as a Suspect
The High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) of DKI Jakarta has named former Director-General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works (PU), Dwi Purwantoro, as a suspect in a corruption case.
‘We have named DP as a suspect in his capacity as Director-General of Water Resources from July 2025 to January 2026 in a case of alleged extortion and/or bribery and/or gratification and/or abuse of authority in several projects under the Directorate General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works,’ said Dapot Dariarma, Head of the Public Information Section of Kejati Jakarta, in a briefing on Thursday (21 May).
Additionally, investigators have named RS as Secretary to the Director General for Cipta Karya and AS as the PPK in a case of alleged corruption involving the implementation of routine expenditure at the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Cipta Karya within the Ministry of Public Works.
‘The role of the suspect DP as Director-General of Water Resources is to extort and/or receive bribes and/or gratification amounting to more than Rp2 billion and two luxury cars, a CR-V and an Innova Zenix, from several state-owned construction companies (BUMN Karya) and private parties related to several projects under the Directorate General of Water Resources,’ Dariarma said.
Meanwhile, RS and AS allegedly conspired to engineer fictitious projects at the Secretariat General of Cipta Karya in the 2023 and 2024 periods, with state losses of at least more than Rp16 billion.
In this case, investigators have seized two luxury cars and a sum of cash in US dollars.
Dapot added that investigators are continuing to collect evidence and deepen the involvement of other parties, both from the Ministry of Public Works, state-owned enterprises and the private sector.
‘The investigators are currently developing the case by examining witnesses, a financial-forensics expert, and the suspects, as well as tracing and seizing assets to increase the amount of state loss recovered,’ he said.
For his actions, Dwi Purwantoro is charged under Article 12(e) or Article 12(a) subsidiarily Article 12(b) or Article 12B(1) and (2) of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 on the Eradication of Corruption, or Article 605(2) or Article 606(2) of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Penal Code.
