DKI Jakarta Promotes Water Management Technology Cooperation with Shenzhen
The Jakarta Provincial Government is promoting cooperation in urban water management technology with Shenzhen Water Group as part of Jakarta’s series of agendas in China.
“Jakarta has urban needs and challenges, while Shenzhen possesses experience and technological innovation. We hope this connection can evolve into knowledge-sharing, technical cooperation, and technology transfer,” said the Head of the Jakarta MSME, Industry, and Trade Department, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, in an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
The exploration is being conducted by the Jakarta MSME, Industry, and Trade Department while accompanying PAM Jaya during a meeting with Shenzhen Water Group in Shenzhen.
The meeting discussed the potential implementation of smart water management, specifically the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), increasing water distribution efficiency, and controlling non-revenue water (NRW) losses.
Shenzhen’s experience in technology-based urban infrastructure management is considered highly relevant to Jakarta’s transformation agenda towards becoming a more digital, resilient, and sustainable city.
The Jakarta Provincial Government’s exploration with Shenzhen is part of Jakarta’s broader agenda in China, coinciding with Indonesia’s participation in the China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF) 2026 in Guangzhou.
CISMEF serves as a platform that brings together governments, business actors, investors, and economic partners from the Asia-Pacific region, and is part of the lead-up to the APEC Economy Leader’s Meeting in Shenzhen on 18-19 November 2026.
For Jakarta, the momentum of CISMEF and APEC is being utilised not only to expand market access for MSMEs but also to establish cooperation networks in strategic sectors, including technology and urban infrastructure.
