The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government planted 54,038 mangrove seedlings throughout 2026 as an effort to strengthen forestry areas along the coast against the threat of abrasion and to safeguard marine life.
“From January to June 2026, as many as 54,038 mangrove seedlings have been planted across an area of 4.1 hectares,” said the Head of the Jakarta Parks and City Forest Service (Tamhut), M Fajar Sauri, in Jakarta on Sunday.
- Urban Residents’ Forum educates children on the risks of sugary drinks
The Urban Residents’ Forum (FAKTA) Indonesia used the commemoration of National Children’s Day 2026 to educate children and parents about the importance of limiting the consumption of packaged sugary beverages.

“Regarding waste in Jakarta, I have ordered the Environment Service, in cooperation with the Communications, Informatics and Statistics Agency, to promptly remove and clean up piled-up rubbish. Wherever there is a pile of waste, the DKI Provincial Government will act quickly,” said Pramono after inspecting the Car-Free Day implementation on Jalan H.R. - One person dies in a fire in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta
A house fire that began with an explosion at Jalan Pulo Mas Utara 2B No 8, RT/RW 008/014, Kayu Putih, Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, on Sunday night, killed one resident.
Abdul Wahid, Head of the Operations Section of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department, said the victim’s body was found in a room at the back of the house after the blaze had been extinguished.
