Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta provincial government invited 60 elderly residents to join the 2026 Lunar New Year celebrations at Hotel Indonesia Roundabout in Jakarta, reinforcing its commitment to establishing Jakarta as an inclusive, tolerant and age-friendly global city.

The elderly women, hailing from various areas across DKI Jakarta, were invited to take part in a wellness walk and enjoy the Lunar New Year ornaments adorning the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout area.

"We want to bring happiness to public spaces so that it can be felt by all segments of society," said Dwi Oktavia, Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Agency (PPAPP), in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She said this year's Lunar New Year festivities were not merely ceremonial, but tangible proof that Jakarta is a home for all communities.

Dwi stated that the Jakarta Lunar New Year Festival 2026 represents an effort to provide a space for togetherness across ages and cultures, noting that the Lunar New Year does not belong to a single ethnic group but is part of the cultural richness that can be enjoyed by all Jakarta residents.

The event also represents the DKI Jakarta PPAPP Agency's commitment to promoting the wellbeing of elderly residents who are healthy, happy and prosperous. This aligns with the vision of building Jakarta as an inclusive city that respects and protects its elderly population.
