Jakarta Information Commission (KI DKI Jakarta) said that strengthening the Pejabat Pengelola Informasi dan Dokumentasi (PPID) should not be viewed as an administrative burden, but as a strategic tool for public bodies to build public trust in the long term. The remark was made by Luqman Hakim Arifin, Deputy Chair of KI DKI Jakarta, during a visit to Duren Sawit Regional Special Hospital (RSKD) in East Jakarta to present the recommendations from the E-Monitoring and Evaluation (E-Monev) of the 2025 Public Information Disclosure, on Thursday 5 March 2025. “PPID should not be run merely as a duty. If managed well, PPID can actually become a strategic tool for public bodies to enhance transparency and public trust,” Luqman said in a Jakarta statement on Friday. He said the Information Commission promotes strengthening the foundation of the information openness system that can endure in the long term. He also stressed that achieving the informatif predicate is not difficult if public bodies consistently implement the Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) in the E-Monev. “Self-assessment is, in essence, an evaluation of oneself. If the SAQ is completed correctly and supported by accurate data, public bodies are already on the path to achieving the informatif predicate,” Luqman said. In the same session, KI DKI also noted that only the digitisation indicators require strengthening so that engagement with the public increases further. “The main task of the Information Commission is indeed to resolve public information disputes. However, in practice, the disputes that arise are more often related to issues of administrative services rather than the substance of the information,” Luqman said. Meanwhile, the PPID of Duren Sawit Regional Special Hospital, Teguh, expressed appreciation for the guidance and input provided by KI DKI Jakarta. “We hope to gain benefits and guidance from the Information Commission in developing better public information services,” Teguh said. On the other hand, Leny Ariyani, Acting Head of the General Administration Section at RSKD Duren Sawit, said they were open to various inputs from KI DKI Jakarta to improve indicators that still need to be enhanced. “The presence of the Information Commission opens a new perspective for us. Viewing things from an external perspective, we can identify areas that still need to be improved so that in the future we can achieve the informatif predicate,” Leny said. She added that RSKD Duren Sawit continues to develop public information services, both through conventional and digital media, including by providing information via digital media in service areas, and plans to develop publication media to widen access to information for the public.
