Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta reported that Jakarta’s monthly inflation in March 2026 reached 0.51 percent, dominated by an increase in the price index for the food, beverages, and tobacco group by 1.46 percent. “(This expenditure group) contributed 0.30 percent to inflation, followed by the clothing and footwear group at 1.15 percent with a contribution of 0.06 percent,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Wednesday. Additionally, the transportation group and the personal care and other services group each contributed 0.05 percent to inflation. On the other hand, only two expenditure groups recorded monthly deflation in March 2026, namely the information, communication, and financial services group and the health group, which experienced deflations of 0.12 percent and 0.08 percent, respectively. “The contribution from the information, communication, and financial services group is 0.01 percent, while the health group’s contribution is less than 0.01 percent,” Kadarmanto stated. Furthermore, rice contributed 0.03 percent and red chillies contributed 0.03 percent to Jakarta’s monthly inflation in March 2026. Nationally, monthly inflation in March 2026 was 0.41 percent, with the main contributor being the food, beverages, and tobacco group, which provided a 0.32 percent inflation contribution. In addition, the main commodity contributors to inflation in that group were fresh fish, broiler chicken meat, rice, broiler chicken eggs, bird’s eye chillies, cooking oil, and beef.
