DKI Jakarta DPRD Holds Plenary Session for City's Anniversary, Praises Development Achievements

The DKI Jakarta DPRD held a Plenary Session commemorating the 499th Anniversary of the City of Jakarta. The session was chaired by the Speaker of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Suhud Alynudin, accompanied by Deputy Speakers Ima Mahdiah, Rany Mauliani, Wibi Andrino, and Basri Baco. All members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, along with the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, and the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Rano Karno, attended the plenary session. Opening the session, Suhud extended birthday wishes to all residents of Jakarta, framing the anniversary as a momentum to strengthen the city’s identity. “On behalf of the leadership and members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, I wish a Happy 499th Anniversary to the City of Jakarta. Let us make this moment a milestone to strengthen Jakarta’s identity as a cultured, just, and globally competitive city,” Suhud stated. He also invited all parties to reflect on Jakarta’s long historical journey, evolving from Sunda Kelapa, Jayakarta, and Batavia into a symbol of national sovereignty and the spirit of struggle. According to him, nearly five centuries of history have shaped Jakarta into a resilient, open, and dynamic city, serving as the centre of government, economy, culture, and national progress. Suhud also expressed appreciation for various development achievements attained by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This progress is evident in modern and integrated infrastructure development, including the advancement of public transportation and the arrangement of urban areas that are increasingly comfortable for residents. “Jakarta has shown significant progress through modern and integrated infrastructure development, an increasingly well-organised public transport system, and more humanistic urban planning,” Suhud said. Furthermore, improvements in public service quality and governance are also part of Jakarta’s advancement. The digitalisation of services, budget transparency, and community involvement in the development process are considered to have encouraged the creation of a more responsive and accountable government. Other ongoing efforts, such as sustainable flood control, the development of green open spaces, and the empowerment of MSMEs and the creative economy, are also continuously pursued to improve the quality of life for residents. Entering its 499th year, the DKI Jakarta DPRD is committed to continuing to oversee development policies to ensure they favour the people’s interests and support Jakarta’s competitiveness on a global level. “The DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD is committed to continuing to oversee development policies so that they always favour the people’s interests, strengthen global competitiveness, and maintain Jakarta’s identity as an inclusive and cultured city,” Suhud concluded.
