DKI Jakarta DPRD Applauds Mobile Animal Clinic Launch, Sees Progress Towards Animal-Friendly City

DKI Jakarta DPRD member from the PDI Perjuangan faction, Hardiyanto Kenneth, has applauded the launch of the Mobile Animal Clinic programme by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. According to him, this breakthrough signifies that Jakarta’s commitment to being an animal-friendly city is gradually being realised. The man familiarly known as Bang Kent assessed that the provision of mobile health services is concrete proof of the realisation of Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo’s campaign promise to deliver inclusive public services that touch the direct needs of the capital’s residents. “Jakarta’s target is to become an animal-friendly city. With the existence of a mobile clinic like this, it indicates that the target is slowly being achieved,” said Kenneth while attending the inaugural service review at the Mustika Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, on Friday (10/7/2026). Although the operational tariff for the mobile clinic currently refers fully to Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 concerning Regional Taxes and Retributions, this Commission C member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is committed to pushing for a special policy in parliament, such as free services for pet owners from underprivileged families. “So, if there is a special incident or the pet owner is less fortunate, there will be special considerations in the future. Perhaps it can be free of charge,” said the Chairman of IKAL (Lemhannas RI Alumni Family Association) Class LXII. Furthermore, Kenneth also urged the DKI Provincial Government not only to increase the number of fleets but also to start building permanent animal clinic facilities in every administrative city, considering that Jakarta currently only has one Animal Health Centre (Puskeswan) in the Ragunan area, South Jakarta. At the same location, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo explained that the Provincial Government has prepared five Mobile Animal Clinic units to be distributed across the five municipal areas. This tactical measure is presented to maintain and preserve Jakarta’s status as a rabies-free city on a global scale. Pramono added that in 2026, the Provincial Government is targeting mass sterilisation of 23,000 pets belonging to residents. Each mobile unit is now reinforced with competent veterinarians and medical equipment to provide examinations, treatment, minor surgeries, and ultrasonography (USG). Meanwhile, Head of the DKI Jakarta Food Security, Marine Affairs, and Agriculture Agency (KPKP), Hasudungan A Sidabalok, confirmed that the fleet will operate six days a week, from Monday to Saturday. The KPKP Agency is also currently reviewing the possibility of providing a subsidy scheme for holders of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and other social assistance programmes in the future.
