DKI Jakarta coordinates with supplier regions to ensure healthy sacrificial animals
The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) is coordinating with supplier regions to ensure that sacrificial animals entering Jakarta are healthy and disease-free.
‘We ensure all animals entering Jakarta are free from diseases, particularly zoonotic diseases that can be transmitted to humans, such as anthrax, foot-and-mouth disease, and others,’ said Hasudungan Sidabalok, Head of the DKI Jakarta Department of Food Security, Marine Affairs, and Agriculture (KPKP), in East Jakarta on Tuesday.
Additionally, the department has conducted training sessions and webinars for animal inspectors, the public, and Kurban committees on the safe, healthy, intact, and halal (ASUH) meat-slaughtering system.
Blood samples have been taken at all Kurban animal sales points. He confirmed that 458 blood samples tested in laboratories were free from anthrax.
‘We also take soil samples at Kurban animal sales points to ensure the soil is free from anthrax, as the disease is highly dangerous and can threaten public health,’ he added.
The DKI Jakarta Department of Food Security, Marine Affairs, and Agriculture (KPKP) is also ensuring hygiene and sanitation standards at slaughter sites.
