DKI Inspectorate to Examine Transport Officials for Manipulating JAKI Report Photos
The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) has confirmed the manipulation of timestamps on JAKI reports by transport department (Dishub) officials in Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta.
This case previously went viral and drew significant attention on social media after being posted by the Threads account @glensaimima on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Head of the Communications, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Kominfotik) of DKI Jakarta, Budi Awaluddin, stated that his team had investigated the report and found evidence of manipulation by the officials.
The Dishub officials will be examined by the DKI Inspectorate.
“It is true (that officials manipulated reports with fake timestamps), and we have found (the evidence). Currently, the case is being processed, and we will coordinate with the inspectorate for examination,” Budi explained in his official statement on Wednesday.
According to him, public criticism will serve as input for Pemprov DKI Jakarta to continuously improve its services.
Furthermore, Budi emphasised that this incident has received special attention from the leadership of Pemprov DKI Jakarta.
As a preventive measure going forward, Diskominfotik DKI Jakarta will overhaul and tighten the security system on the JAKI application to ensure that similar loopholes cannot be exploited by rogue officials.
“In response to this, we are strengthening the JAKI system, both technologically and in terms of supervision. In the future, there will be enhancements such as stricter photo validation, the use of direct field documentation (real-time capture), and the development of features to detect potential manipulation, fraud, or AI,” he clarified.
“We also emphasise that any party involved will face sanctions if proven to have manipulated reports. This is important to maintain the integrity and trust in the existing complaint system,” Budi asserted.
In addition to system improvements, Pemprov DKI is said to strengthen internal supervision across all regional apparatus.
He even urged the public to remain active in monitoring and overseeing the performance of Pemprov DKI Jakarta officials through JAKI and the integrated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) complaint system.
“On the internal side, we are also providing guidance to field officials so that report handling is carried out correctly and in accordance with regulations,” he said.
