Jakarta (ANTARA) - Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo hopes that Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas) can make children more focused on learning.

“The main hope is that Jakarta’s children concentrate on their lessons,” said Pramono in Central Jakarta on Friday.

Pramono is convinced that PP Tunas is highly beneficial as a legal foundation to protect Indonesian children in the digital space, as the regulation requires digital platforms to conduct age verification, filter harmful content, and deactivate accounts of children under age on high-risk services. In this way, he said, children can focus on learning to pursue their dreams.

“I am confident that Jakarta’s children generally have high aspirations to study anywhere. So, rather than playing like that, it’s better to concentrate on learning,” stated Pramono.

As support for the regulation, Pramono said he will soon issue a gubernatorial regulation (Pergub).

According to Pramono, compared to other regions in Indonesia, children in Jakarta are relatively more digitally literate. Therefore, derivative regulations from PP Tunas are deemed necessary.

The issuance of the Pergub as a derivative of PP Tunas is one form of support from the Jakarta Government for the regulation.

“Because the largest consumers in the Republic for children under age as regulated in PP Tunas are certainly the people of DKI Jakarta who are relatively more digitally literate. Thus, we will provide full support for this,” explained Pramono.

As is known, Minister of Communication and Digital Regulation Number 9 of 2026 as the implementing regulation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas) will take effect starting 28 March 2026.

The regulation limits children from various high-risk digital platforms, especially eight digital platforms in the initial implementation, namely YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, Instagram, X, Bigo Live, and Roblox.
