DKI Environment Agency installs fence at temporary waste site in Tanah Kusir Cemetery
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Environment Agency (DLH) has installed boundary fencing at the temporary waste site (emplacement) along the Pesanggrahan River at Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery (TPU), South Jakarta, to maximise waste handling. “We will close it off gradually, or if not, we will install fencing around this emplacement,” said the Head of the Jakarta Environment Agency, Asep Kuswanto, when met at TPU Tanah Kusir, South Jakarta, on Friday. In the future, he said, the Jakarta Environment Agency will also place several containers to assist in the mobility of waste handling. He assessed that the existence of the emplacement is beneficial as a temporary location for waste originating from bodies of water, not waste from residents. “Therefore, the presence of this emplacement is to provide speed of service for our waterway waste processing unit (UPS) friends in handling waste in bodies of water, rivers, canals, or reservoirs,” Asep stated. In addition to installing boundary fencing, the Jakarta Environment Agency is also providing holding bins (containers) and installing informational boards explaining the site’s function as a temporary holding area for waterway waste. The function of the emplacement is as a temporary placement site for waste originating from waterway waste, not from residents. The emplacement accommodates waterway waste from Pesanggrahan, Kebayoran Baru, and Kebayoran Lama. The Jakarta Environment Agency is deploying alert personnel, six waste trucks (minidump), and one excavator during the waste relocation process, with the waste known to weigh approximately six tonnes at the 12 cubic metre site. Thus, the DLH ensures there are no waste dumping activities into the Pesanggrahan Canal in the Tanah Kusir TPU area, South Jakarta, as seen in a viral video on social media Threads.
