Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) is ensuring readiness to welcome Eid al-Adha by emphasising the management of sacrificial offerings that is orderly, hygienic, and environmentally friendly. Various strategic steps are being taken to ensure that the implementation of the sacrifices runs optimally across the entire capital region. “In principle, we are preparing as best as possible. Not only in terms of the needs for sacrificial animals, but also how the organisation is carried out, starting from preparations for Eid prayers, the slaughtering process, to the distribution of meat to the community,” said Assistant for Economy and Finance of the DKI Provincial Secretariat, Suharini Eliawati, in Jakarta on Thursday. She also emphasised the importance of using environmentally friendly containers in the distribution of sacrificial meat. This, she said, is one of Pemprov DKI’s efforts to reduce plastic waste during Eid al-Adha. In addition, Pemprov DKI is encouraging sacrificial animal slaughterers to have certification as halal slaughter experts (Juleha). This step is considered crucial to ensure that the slaughtering process meets syariah standards and health requirements. Supervision is carried out in layers, from the regional level to the points of sale for sacrificial animals. “Usually, supervision starts one month in advance. Colleagues in the regions will go down to ensure the health of the animals and the feasibility of distribution,” Suharini revealed. She also assured that Pemprov DKI has coordinated with supplying regions, including Lampung and Central Java, given that Jakarta still relies on supplies from outside the area to meet the needs for cattle, buffalo, and goat sacrificial animals. “Coordination with supplying regions has been carried out. We are also facilitating permits so that the distribution of sacrificial animals to Jakarta runs smoothly,” Suharini stated. Through these various preparations, Pemprov DKI hopes that this year’s Eid al-Adha implementation can proceed more orderly, healthy, and sustainable, while providing comfort for the community in carrying out the sacrificial worship.
