DKI Efforts to Maintain Plastic Price Stability
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said that his administration is currently striving to ensure that the capital does not experience a rise in plastic prices due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. “As for plastic, to be honest, the DKI Jakarta Government is doing everything possible to hold back that (price increase),” Pramono said when met in North Jakarta on Tuesday. According to Pramono, the procurement of plastic is outside the control of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Pramono said that this is usually handled by the central government. Nevertheless, Pramono emphasised that in the current situation, the Jakarta Government must be prepared to face the price increase. “In conditions like this, like it or not, whether we like it or not, we all must face this price increase problem together,” Pramono stated. However, for other basic commodities such as eggs, rice, and meat, Pramono assured that stocks in Jakarta remain safe and there are no price increases. For this reason, he asked the public to remain calm and not engage in panic buying. Because if an increase occurs, Pramono said that his side would immediately provide affordable markets for the public. “For rice, chillies, meat, the DKI Jakarta Government can quickly hold affordable markets. If indeed we later see that the prices are already unreasonable, we will certainly intervene,” Pramono explained.
