Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chair of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rany Mauliani, believes that the existence of the People’s School can help elevate family status through educational access for children from underprivileged groups. “All those attending the People’s School today are children who can later lift their families’ status,” said Rany while attending the National Education Day (Hardiknas) commemoration event at the People’s Upper Secondary School (SRMA) 10 in South Jakarta on Thursday. According to her, the presence of the People’s School demonstrates the state’s commitment to providing equal educational opportunities for all children, including those with economic limitations. Therefore, she urged the students to remain focused on their studies and maintain their enthusiasm to achieve their aspirations. Rany is confident that the People’s School students have great potential to become the nation’s future generation. “The state is here for you so that you can be on equal footing with children studying elsewhere,” stated Rany. She also appreciated the role of teachers and school officials in continuously supporting the students in their educational process. She noted that efforts to build character, discipline, and solidarity among students require a challenging process. She mentioned that the spirit of togetherness needs to be continuously instilled in students because success is more easily achieved through cooperation rather than going it alone. “If we work together, we support each other solidly, the results will be far more extraordinary than doing it alone,” said Rany. She hopes that the People’s School students can become a generation that fully contributes to the nation in the future. “We pray that in the future, the Indonesian nation can be led by the students of the People’s School,” said Rany. SRMA 10 Margaguna in South Jakarta, located within the Centre for Education, Training, and Professional Development (Pusdiklatbangprof), spans more than four hectares. The People’s School offers several free facilities, including a library, fitness centre (gym), music studio, badminton court, and volleyball court. All these facilities are expected to motivate students to study more enthusiastically. The 100 students accepted at SRMA 10 Margaguna consist of 56 males and 44 females. The school is also equipped with dormitory facilities, with a maximum of four people per room. The students’ age range is 15-21 years, and most of them are school dropouts for various reasons.
