DKI DPRD Requests Cap on Valet Parking Fees, Maximum Rp 50,000
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Jakarta Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD DKI Jakarta) has requested the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) to cap valet parking service fees in the capital at a maximum of Rp 50,000.
This request was made by the Special Parking Committee (Pansus) of DPRD DKI Jakarta after discovering that many valet parking fees, deemed excessively high at shopping centres and hotels, reach Rp 200,000 to Rp 250,000.
“Establish provisions for valet parking service fees with a highest price of Rp 50,000 for all types of services or locations,” stated the Head of the DKI Jakarta Special Parking Committee, Jupiter, after a working meeting at the DPRD DKI Jakarta Building on Monday (20/4/2026).
Therefore, the DPRD is pressing DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to issue a new governor’s regulation (pergub) that is more relevant to current parking issues.
“We urge the immediate creation of a new pergub because the old regulations are no longer relevant,” he said.
In addition to fees, Jupiter highlighted that the old parking regulations do not yet cover digital parking payment systems.
However, according to him, such a system is crucial for creating more transparent and accountable parking management.
“The old regional regulation does not regulate payments to create more transparent, accountable, and efficient parking governance. It does not mention developing digital parking payment systems; that is absent,” Jupiter explained.
“If this gap is not addressed, the potential for PAD (regional revenue) leakages could continue,” he added.
The DPRD hopes the provincial government will promptly draft new regulations to make parking management in Jakarta more orderly, transparent, and not detrimental to the public.
