DKI DPRD Proposes New TransJakarta Fare of Rp 5,000: Still Within Reasonable Limits
TransJakarta is currently reviewing a fare increase. The Chairman of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Nova Harivan Paloh, has proposed a new fare of Rp 5,000 from the current Rp 3,500.
“The minimum wage in DKI is now Rp 5.7 (million), if the current minimum wage is Rp 5.7 million, then within the bounds of reasonableness, the TransJ fare is Rp 5,000,” said Nova to reporters on Saturday (25/4/2026).
He assessed that choosing the TransJakarta bus as a mode of transport is highly beneficial. First, the distance travelled by passengers does not affect the fare amount.
Furthermore, passengers who board TransJakarta in the morning will receive a cheaper fare. Moreover, the current TransJakarta routes have expanded.
“TransJakarta now also reaches Bogor, PIK, Sawangan, Bekasi (with a fare of) Rp 3,500. It is said that the bound of reasonableness is Rp 5,000, which may be implemented, but there must be a study, yes,” he continued.
For him, TransJakarta will remain the choice of residents. He assessed that a TransJ fare increase of Rp 1,500 is still reasonable.
“I think Rp 5,000 is fair, if you look at other transport prices, TransJakarta is the cheapest,” he said.
The President Director of TransJakarta, Welfizon Yuza, revealed that his side is currently reviewing the TransJakarta fare increase. He mentioned that the TransJakarta fare has not increased for 21 years.
This was revealed by Welfizon during a meeting with Commission B of the DPRD Jakarta at the DPRD Building, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (23/4). According to him, the TransJakarta fare has been Rp 3,500 since 2005.
“Regarding the fare increase. Of course, this is the domain of the executive or legislative, but we have already conducted a study related to the fare increase which is currently still at Rp 3,500 from 2005, so about 21 years,” said Welfizon.
