JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The DKI Jakarta DPRD held a joint leadership meeting (Rapimgab) to assess the suitability of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, as a candidate for Mayor of South Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The meeting was chaired by DKI Jakarta DPRD Chairman Khoirudin, accompanied by Deputy Chairs Ima Mahdiah and Basri Baco. Also present was the Chairman of Commission A, Inggard Joshua. In the closed-door fit and proper test, the DPRD highlighted bureaucratic challenges in the South Jakarta region, particularly sectoral egos among Sub-District Offices (Sudin) that often impede government performance. Khoirudin questioned Syafrin's strategy for unifying cross-agency coordination at the regional level. According to him, Sub-District Offices have tended to be more loyal to their respective agency heads than to regional leaders. “Usually, Sudin are loyal to the agency head. Meanwhile, Mr Syafrin is the regional leader. Can work be done quickly in such a bureaucratic situation?” said Khoirudin. In addition, the ability to control civil servants (ASN) also came under scrutiny. With coverage of 10 districts and 67 villages, South Jakarta requires a leader deemed capable of effectively coordinating thousands of ASN. “I want Mr Syafrin to have good control capabilities so that everyone works maximally,” added Khoirudin. He compared it to other regions like West Jakarta, which is seen as faster in resolving similar issues. “In West Jakarta, it's done in six months. In South Jakarta, it can take two years and still not resolved. Whereas, the proposal for the handover of Fasos-Fasum is very important for residents,” said Ima. Ima hopes that if elected, Syafrin will be able to cut through the convoluted bureaucratic chain so that every community issue can be resolved more quickly. “My hope is that Mr Syafrin can execute everything more quickly and that every problem is not ‘diamangin’ (ignored), but resolved,” said Ima.
