DKI DPRD Chairmanship Changes Hands, Democrats Urge Suhud to Be Responsive in Facing Jakarta's Complexities
JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Democratic Party Faction in the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ali Muhammad Johan, has urged the prospective Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Suhud Alynudin, to work quickly and responsively in addressing various issues in the capital.
Ali stated that the new DPRD leadership must be able to embrace all factions so that the council’s work can proceed cohesively.
This is deemed important to ensure that the DPRD’s duties in making regulations, preparing budgets, and overseeing government performance can run more effectively.
He also viewed the change in DPRD leadership as a normal aspect of democracy and in accordance with applicable rules.
According to him, moving forward, the DKI Jakarta DPRD needs to strengthen cooperation not only among factions but also with the regional government, BUMDs, the business world, academics, and the community.
This is crucial because the challenges of development in Jakarta are becoming more numerous and complex, requiring collaboration from multiple parties.
“The challenges of Jakarta’s development in the future are increasingly complex and require an inclusive approach oriented towards public interest,” he said.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta DPRD held a plenary session to announce the change in the DPRD Chairman for the remaining 2024–2029 term.
In the session, the dismissal of Khoirudin from the chairmanship position was announced, along with the proposal of Suhud Alynudin from the PKS Faction as his replacement.
The change refers to Government Regulation Number 12 of 2018 and DKI Jakarta DPRD Regulation Number 1 of 2024 on the DPRD’s Rules of Procedure.
The basis for the change also refers to the Decree of the PKS Central Executive Board dated 2 April 2026.
The DPRD’s Deliberative Body then set the plenary session on 30 April 2026 as the official forum for the announcement.
Subsequently, the proposal for Suhud Alynudin’s appointment as DPRD Chairman will be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Governor of DKI Jakarta to obtain official ratification as the definitive leadership.
