JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Khoirudin, has suggested that the plan to implement a work-from-home (WFH) system for one day per week for civil servants (ASN) and private sector workers should not be carried out on Wednesdays. This aligns with the wishes of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, who suggested that WFH should not take place on Wednesdays. “My suggestion is the same as the Governor’s, not on Wednesday. Yes, because Wednesday is a car-free day, a public transport day. So that public transport activities can still run smoothly,” said Khoirudin when met at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building in Central Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026). He assessed that the policy could potentially trigger long weekends due to proximity to the weekend, thereby affecting work effectiveness and productivity. “Yes (not Friday), long weekend,” said Khoirudin. He also proposed that WFH be applied on other working days outside of Wednesday and Friday. “I hope it’s on Thursday or Tuesday, after or before Wednesday,” stated Khoirudin. Previously, Pramono emphasised that his side would follow the regulations to be set by the central government regarding WFH one day per week. However, he assured that the WFH policy would not be applied on Wednesdays. “In principle, as I said, the DKI Jakarta Government will follow the directives and official regulations to be issued by the central government. Regarding the day, of course not Wednesday,” said Pramono when met at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building on Monday (30/3/2026). Under the policy, ASN and Individual Service Providers (PJLP) are required to use public transport for commuting to and from work, including during official duties. “Thus, once it is decided by the central government, I will decide outside of Wednesday. Because Wednesday remains for public transport,” said Pramono. For information, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the WFH policy for ASN and private sector workers would be set in March 2026. “It will definitely be set this month,” said Airlangga after a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026).
