DKI Continues to Improve Sidewalk Quality for Pedestrian Comfort
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is currently enhancing the quality of sidewalks to provide comfort and safety for pedestrians, one of which is in the Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta. “At present, we are arranging sidewalks in line with the Roads Service programme. We are implementing this in Rasuna Said,” said the Head of the Green Corridor Division of the DKI Jakarta Parks and City Forest Service, Muhammad Ali, in a podcast in Jakarta on Wednesday. The hope is that this sidewalk arrangement will make the community or pedestrians who are active in those locations comfortable. Meanwhile, the Roads Service, in arranging sidewalks, is adopting the “Complete Street” concept, which aims to improve comfort and safety for pedestrians and other road users. The “Complete Street” concept is a road planning and design approach that ensures safe access for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, motor vehicle drivers, and public transport users of all ages and backgrounds. The Roads Service stated that the width of the sidewalks will vary according to existing conditions and will not occupy the road. There are four locations for sidewalk arrangement and their facilities in 2025, namely the Blok M area covering Jalan Falatehan I and Jalan Falatehan on the Blok M Terminal side. Then, Jalan Mangga Besar Raya; Jalan Prof Dr Soepomo and surroundings covering Jalan Soepomo, part of Jalan Saharjo, and Jalan Abdullah Syafei on the north side up to Tebet Train Station; and Fatmawati Intersection covering Jalan Fatmawati, part of Jalan TB Simatupang, and Jalan RA Kartini.
