Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Child Empowerment, Protection, and Population Control Agency (PPAPP) is committed to increasing the number of Integrated Child-Friendly Public Spaces (RPTRA) in the capital city. “DKI Jakarta already has 324 RPTRAs, and we hope this number can continue to grow because we want to provide more RPTRAs, closer to the community,” said the Head of PPAPP DKI Jakarta, Dwi Oktavia, at an event titled “Family-Friendly Spaces in DKI Jakarta” in Jakarta on Friday. As is known, RPTRAs in Jakarta have been available for 10 years and serve as venues for activities for children, families, and the elderly. Dwi stated that the presence of RPTRAs in the capital demonstrates the commitment of the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta to supporting community empowerment activities, welfare, and providing entertainment spaces for children and families. “RPTRAs can also serve as comfortable spaces for family members to share stories, open up, and communicate. Providing safe, decent, and inclusive family play spaces in RPTRAs is also very important to continue developing,” said Dwi. RPTRA is an open green public area with indoor and outdoor facilities as a means and centre for community activities to support Jakarta as a Child-Friendly City. At the location, there is a Family Welfare Empowerment Laboratory (PKK) for implementing the 10 Core PKK Programmes and flagship PKK programmes. Currently, the 324 RPTRAs in Jakarta are spread across 44 sub-districts and 173 villages. This number has exceeded the initial target of only 267. Of the total, 253 RPTRAs were built with the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) of DKI Jakarta and 71 RPTRAs were built using corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds.
