DKI Civil Registry: New Arrivals Must Report, Data Crucial for Emergencies

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) is urging new arrivals to promptly report to their local kelurahan, bringing their Citizen Relocation Certificate (SKPWNI). “We hope the public becomes more aware of reporting their presence upon arriving in Jakarta, whether planning a permanent or non-permanent move,” said Shanti, Head of the Population Registration Division at Dukcapil DKI, on Monday (6 April 2026), quoted from Antara. The registration process is running smoothly, but new arrivals are still required to bring their SKPWNI along with a guarantee letter or a no-objection certificate from the homeowner of the residence they will occupy. The Population Guidance and New Arrivals Socialisation programme is ongoing until 30 April 2026, with the next simultaneous event scheduled for 20 April. Each kelurahan is also conducting independent socialisation according to their schedules. Reporting new arrivals offers two key benefits. For the government, the data is essential for the accuracy of development planning. For residents, it is crucial for emergency handling, such as accidents or disasters. In addition to new arrival registration, Dukcapil is providing proactive or door-to-door services for other civil registration matters, including KTP-el recording. Dukcapil DKI Jakarta records that as of 1 April 2026, the number of new arrivals entering Jakarta totals 1,776 people, mostly men. Approximately 79.34 per cent are in the productive age group of 15-64 years, indicating the dominance of working-age population in the post-Eid 2026 urbanisation flow. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government emphasises that it will continue socialisation and door-to-door services for new arrival registration until 30 April 2026 across all administrative cities and the Thousand Islands Administrative Regency.
