DKI BPS: Unemployment in Jakarta Dominated by Men
JAKARTA - Unemployment in Jakarta is still dominated by men. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta records that the open unemployment rate (TPT) for men in February 2026 reached 6.54%. βIn February 2026, the male TPT is 6.54%, higher than the female TPT of 5.28%,β said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in his official statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026). The unemployment figure experienced a slight decline compared to February 2025, namely by 0.15 percentage points. On the other hand, the number of working-age population in Jakarta actually increased. Compared to February 2025, the working-age population grew by 57,640 people. Meanwhile, the number of employed people increased more significantly, by 62,180 people. This condition reduced the number of unemployed by around 4,540 people. The male Labour Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was recorded at 78.83%, much higher than that for women at 52.26%. This indicates that more men are actively working or seeking work compared to women. The TPT for SMK graduates was recorded at 8.15% and SMA at 7.58%, the highest compared to other educational levels. Meanwhile, the lowest unemployment rate came from those with primary school education or below at 5.32%, Diploma I/II/III at 3.58%, followed by university at 3.79%, junior high school at 3.87%.
