DKI BPS States Economic Census Helps Identify New Business Opportunities
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta states that data produced by the Economic Census can help entrepreneurs plan expansions, identify new business opportunities, and adjust business strategies to face economic challenges. “In this regard, census data will provide an overview of developing sectors with high investment potential,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in a podcast on the 2026 Economic Census in Jakarta on Thursday. He conveyed that data from the Economic Census can also create a more informative and efficient business environment for entrepreneurs. “Business actors can understand the competitive landscape and market potential based on data that helps entrepreneurs make better business decisions,” Kadarmanto stated. Furthermore, he mentioned that the Economic Census will contribute to supporting Jakarta as a global city, targeted to be in the top 20 by 2045. “This is highly relevant to the economic census, where we will pay attention to locations or the number of businesses in DKI Jakarta, especially the presence of major companies, their totals and contributions, as well as market dynamics,” Kadarmanto explained. Additionally, he noted that to support the economic census, the Communication, Coordination, and Diplomacy (KKD) activity is being carried out, engaging industrial business actors. “As an effective and efficient data collection strategy, the targets are central and regional associations, as well as ministries/institutions, regional government organisations, special economic zones, industrial zones, office buildings, and malls,” Kadarmanto revealed. He detailed several outputs and examples of analyses resulting from the comprehensive economic census data collection, including the number of businesses, total company expenditures and revenues in 2025, number of workers, total assets, mapping of new business potentials, as well as mapping of business expansion opportunities, and others.
