The Head of the DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Agency, Heru Suwondo, has revealed that road repairs in the Kebon Sirih area, Central Jakarta, are being carried out because the road frequently suffers damage due to unstable soil. “So, the road on Kebon Sirih, after we asphalted it a few months ago, the asphalt always bleeds. It is always damaged. After we evaluated it, after we used georadar, the soil is unstable,” Heru explained at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday. For this reason, Heru continued, his agency decided to repair the road by concreting it. The road being repaired in the area is only 345 metres long. He mentioned that the road is targeted for completion by September. “Currently, we are still working on the middle section. Once the middle is finished, we will move to the sides,” Heru stated. Heru added that his agency will also carry out similar work in other areas with the same conditions. “If there are roads like that, we will handle them,” Heru said. Heru explained that the repairs are being carried out using the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget. However, Heru did not disclose the total budget allocated for the road repairs.
