Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice Chair of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Rany Mauliani, stated that the primary focus of development in West Jakarta remains centred on flooding and waste issues, for which the city government can utilise assets owned by the Provincial Government to support environmental infrastructure.

“Lands that are assets of the Regional Government must be utilised maximally for public interest,” said Rany in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to her, while attending the Musrenbang in West Jakarta, it was evident that the main focus of development in the area is still on handling classic problems such as flooding and waste management.

To this end, Rany encouraged the West Jakarta city government to utilise provincial government assets to build modern waste management facilities, such as Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) or Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF).

“Thus, waste handling can be resolved independently in each region. This will also be a serious concern for the central government,” she said.

She added that the Regional Regulation (Perda) on Regional Owned Goods (BMD) has been issued, so use the existing regulations for the benefit of the community.

Rany also fully supports the development plans in West Jakarta for 2026-2027. Of course, the programmes will be realised according to targets.

Moreover, said Rany, Jakarta’s success in overcoming environmental problems will serve as an example for other provinces in Indonesia.

“We will continue to monitor so that the planned programmes succeed. Because DKI Jakarta is the barometer,” she said.
