Banjarmasin (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Provincial Office of the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb Kalsel) recorded the realisation of People’s Business Loans (KUR) amounting to IDR 419.21 billion to 6,058 debtors in the province until 31 January 2024, continuing to strengthen access to finance and business expansion for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Office of DJPb, Catur Ariyanto Widodo, in Banjarmasin, Thursday, said that the distribution represented approximately 8.13% of the 2024 target of IDR 5.15 trillion, indicating a positive trend in early 2024 in supporting inclusive and productive financing.

He revealed that the micro KUR scheme dominated with IDR 149.10 billion or 35.57% with 2,745 debtors, making it the backbone of financing for small businesses and people’s trade.

He mentioned that the city of Banjarmasin recorded the highest distribution of IDR 71.02 billion to 869 debtors, followed by Tanah Bumbu Regency with IDR 56.42 billion to 559 debtors, and Banjar Regency with IDR 45.64 billion to 742 debtors, dominated by the trade and service sectors.

Catur explained that the trade sector was the largest recipient of UMi (Micro Business Loans), indicating the high dynamism of micro and informal businesses at the beginning of the fiscal year.

He assessed that this inclusive financing is an important instrument to maintain people’s purchasing power, expand business opportunities, and strengthen the base of the local economy in the region.

“Monitoring and evaluation of the distribution of KUR and UMi are continuously strengthened with implementing agencies so that the expansion of financing remains healthy, productive, and able to encourage more inclusive and sustainable economic growth in South Kalimantan throughout 2024,” said Catur Ariyanto Widodo.
