DJP: Tourism Sector Still Dominant in Contributing to Tax Revenue in Bali
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - The Bali Regional Directorate General of Taxation (DJP) Office states that the tourism sector remains the dominant contributor to tax revenue on the Island of the Gods, reaching Rp2.25 trillion as of February 2026. “The growth in the accommodation and food and beverage provision sector (tourism) contributed 31.09 percent compared to the same period in 2025,” said the Head of DJP Bali, Darmawan, in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday. With this realisation, he noted, the tourism sector, as Bali’s main economic pillar, also reflects the increasingly positive tourism conditions thanks to the trend of rising domestic and international tourist visits up to February 2026. The tax revenue realisation equates to 9.26 percent of the 2026 target of Rp24.31 trillion. Compared to the same period in 2025, the tax revenue realisation for February 2026 rose 13.60 percent from Rp1.98 trillion at that time. He detailed that the trade sector contributed Rp383.45 billion in tax revenue, accounting for 17 percent; accommodation and food and beverage provision Rp358.33 billion or 15.91 percent. Then, financial and insurance activities reached Rp300.46 billion or 13.34 percent, real estate Rp182.86 billion or 8.12 percent, processing industry Rp178.18 billion or 7.91 percent. Furthermore, government administration and mandatory social security activities amounted to Rp147.70 billion or 6.56 percent, professional, scientific, and technical activities Rp126.45 billion or 5.61 percent, and information and communication Rp75.66 billion or 3.36 percent. “Almost all types of taxes experienced positive growth up to February 2026,” he added. Meanwhile, in terms of compliance, the reporting of annual income tax returns for the 2025 tax year reached 156,037 returns, consisting of 2,575 corporate taxpayer returns and 153,476 individual taxpayer returns. The government has extended the annual income tax return filing for the 2025 tax year for individual taxpayers until 30 April 2026 and provided the waiver of administrative sanctions in the form of fines or interest.
