Mataram (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) Nusa Tenggara has begun mapping the potential tax revenue from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and marketplaces in the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) region as an effort to identify new revenue sources for the state.

The Head of the DJP Nusa Tenggara Regional Office, Judiana Manihuruk, stated in Mataram on Thursday that this mapping is necessary to understand the potential revenue from digital economic activities.

“The contribution of MSMEs to state revenue as of 31 July 2026 is 1.12 per cent. That figure is quite small,” he said.

Judiana detailed that tax revenue from the MSME sector amounted to only Rp18.73 billion, or equivalent to 1.12 per cent of the total tax revenue of Rp1.66 trillion up to 31 July 2026.

According to him, if the turnover of an MSME taxpayer remains below Rp500 million per year, they are not subject to the 0.5 per cent income tax.

The government continues to maintain the 0.5 per cent Final Income Tax (PPh Final) facility for MSMEs with an annual turnover between Rp500 million and Rp4.8 billion, while ensuring that this facility is provided more precisely, fairly, and with integrity.

The MSME Final Income Tax facility is focused on small business actors who are the targets of the policy. Other taxpayer groups follow tax regulations appropriate to the characteristics of their business activities, professions, and administrative capacity.

DJP Nusa Tenggara noted that the collection of income tax for marketplaces is still being deferred until 31 October 2026. This deferment is a government policy intended to maintain public purchasing power amidst the current economic conditions.

“The deferment is an adjustment to the implementation timing of the established policy and does not change the substance of the policy,” said Judiana.

DJP Nusa Tenggara does not yet possess specific data regarding the potential transactions and tax revenue from MSMEs selling through marketplaces in West Nusa Tenggara.

Judiana emphasised that his office relies on the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) to more accurately determine the potential and number of marketplaces in West Nusa Tenggara.

“From the current potential in NTB, it appears that (marketplace turnover) is still below Rp500 million per year,” he concluded.
