DJP Kaltimtara Blocks Accounts of Tax Defaulters Owing Rp710 Billion

Samarinda, East Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes for East and North Kalimantan has blocked hundreds of accounts belonging to tax defaulters amounting to more than Rp710 billion.

“This blocking is carried out to give a deterrent effect to uncooperative taxpayers,” said the Head of the Kaltimtara DJP Regional Office, Paryan, in Samarinda on Tuesday.

He explained that previously, officers had provided intensive education, but the taxpayers still showed no good faith in promptly settling their arrears.

Paryan stated that the collection action against these 322 tax defaulters’ accounts was carried out simultaneously in the working area.

“All the blocking request letters for these accounts have been officially submitted to 18 banking financial institutions on 29 April 2026,” he clarified.

The specific targets of this blocking include 142 taxpayers and 180 tax withholders who are considered persistently negligent.

The exact total value of the arrears that triggered this initial seizure action reaches Rp710,040,556,092.

Previously, the DJP had sent warning letters and forced notices to these defaulters.

“However, those official warnings yielded no results at all because the tax withholders continued to ignore their obligations,” Paryan revealed.

According to him, this blocking effort is a step to secure the achievement of state revenue targets in 2026.

The DJP is authorised to request banks to block the accounts of delinquent customers as an initial step before seizure actions.

This authority is stipulated in Law No. 19 of 2000 on tax collection by forced means.

“The implementation procedure complies with Minister of Finance Regulation No. 61 of 2023 on collection,” Paryan explained.
