Jakarta — The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance is considering extending the filing deadline for Annual Tax Return Notifications (SPT) for personal income tax (PPh) for individual taxpayers.

This consideration has arisen because the SPT reporting period this year coincides with the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holiday break.

“We will observe the situation one week before Eid. If the filing graph shows positive trends, the deadline will likely remain 31 March for individual taxpayers,” said Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto during an inauguration ceremony in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In this regard, Bimo stated that his office has prepared several anticipatory measures to address two possible scenarios during the week leading up to Eid al-Fitr.

The authority is anticipating the potential for delayed filing by taxpayers who are constrained by the extended Eid holiday break.

“We are already prepared with contingency measures. It will depend on our level of confidence one week before Eid. I will then report to the Minister to request permission to extend the SPT filing deadline,” he said.

The DJP has recorded 6,691,081 Annual Tax Return Notifications (SPT) for personal income tax (PPh) filed through the DJP Coretax system. Of this total, 6,685,865 SPTs were filed through Coretax DJP, while the remaining 5,216 SPTs were filed through Coretax Form.
