DJP Blocks 2,100 Tax Delinquent Accounts in Sulselbartra
Makassar (ANTARA) - The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) for South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, and Southeast Sulawesi (Sulselbartra) has carried out a simultaneous blocking of 2,100 accounts belonging to tax delinquents scattered across 16 banks. “This is part of our efforts to ensure that tax provisions are applied consistently,” said the Head of the Collection Guidance Section of the Sulselbartra DJP Regional Office, Nurman Efendi, in Makassar on Tuesday. He stated that the law enforcement action was conducted on 28–29 April 2026 and targeted thousands of taxpayers whose accounts are spread across 16 major banks headquartered in Jakarta and Tangerang. Nurman mentioned that the blocking was carried out by State Tax Seizure Officers (JSPN) by delivering blocking request letters directly to the relevant bank headquarters in accordance with applicable procedures. “This step is a measured follow-up for taxpayers who have not fulfilled their obligations after being given notifications and deadlines,” he said. “We only block accounts of taxpayers who have exceeded the payment deadline as stated in the forced letter. This means the action is taken after the persuasive stages have not been responded to,” he added. According to him, blocking is one of the stages in the tax collection process. DJP hopes that taxpayers will be more proactive in communicating to settle their obligations. “Persuasive approaches and education remain the priority. However, if obligations are not fulfilled, collection in accordance with the law must be carried out to increase compliance,” he said. The technical provisions are further regulated in Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) No. 61 of 2023 concerning the Procedures for Implementing Tax Collection on the Remaining Tax Amount to be Paid.
