Djoko Santoso, ITB new rector

BANDUNG: Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB)'s new rector,
Djoko Santoso was officially installed at the institute's campus
on Saturday.

Djoko, who will serve a five-year term, replaced Kusmayanto
Kadiman, who was appointed state minister for research and
technology in President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's United
Indonesia Cabinet.

In the voting prior to his election, Djoko, who gained 18 out
of 26 votes, promised to open up communication and accommodate
all the institute's stakeholders, including students.

"With open communication, I hope there will not be so many
complaints," said the 52-year-old Bandung-born Djoko. -- JP
